Prayer

  • Our rural geography makes weekly meetings difficult. But we do believe in a God who hears and answers prayers. We encourage daily family worship at home and have a monthly congregational prayer meeting that meets in Brodick Free Church on the first Wednesday of each month.

Fellowship

  • At Arran Free Church, we prize Christian fellowship. On the first Sunday of each month, we meet together over coffee, tea, juice and biscuits after the morning service in Shiskine.
  • Once a year, in the summer, we have our Annual Congregational Meeting, which climaxes with a barbeque or a congregational meal.

Service

  • Once a year, we host Afternoon Tea for the elderly on the island who live on their own. This is usually during the summer and is in the Church Hall in Shiskine Free Church.
  • In August every year, together with Scripture Union Scotland, we host a Holiday Club. Children of primary school age usually meet in the mornings and those who are in secondary school will have programmes in the evenings.
  • The communities of Shiskine, Blackwaterfoot and Kilpatrick gather at the War Memorial in Shiskine once a year to remember those who gave their lives for our peace and liberty. This short service on Remembrance Sunday is held jointly with the Church of Scotland.

Visitation

  • The Minister, Elders and Deacons regularly visit people on and off the island. They visit those who are unwell or unable to get to church, and those who are interested in Jesus Christ and have questions about Him. They also do visits to hospitals and nursing homes and are always ready to help people through the difficult or unexpected twists of life.
